Despite falling into disrepair multiple times and undergoing several restoration attempts, the jetty now proudly features a small restaurant and bar area after recent large-scale renovations. In keeping with its German traditions, Swakopmund can be chilly in the early mornings and evenings throughout the year, as the cold Atlantic Ocean meets the Namib Desert, creating a fog bank. This coolness often provides relief from the heat of the rest of Namibia, but it also means that Swakopmund is not the tropical sunbathing paradise that many envision. Swakopmund offers a wide range of accommodations to suit all tastes and budgets. It's worth noting that these establishments will likely need to be booked in advance, especially if you're traveling during the busy December holiday season. For day trippers, a visit to the Cape Cross Seal Colony is worthwhile, as it offers a glimpse of the Skeleton Coast and the seals are a sight to see. The Welwitschia drive is an interesting way to spend a few hours and introduces you to some of the local fauna and flora of the Namib Desert. Bird enthusiasts can visit the Swakopmund Salt Works or the Walvis Bay Lagoon, which is frequented by thousands of flamingos during the season.

About the destination: Twyfelfontein (Afrikaans: uncertain spring), officially known as ǀUi-ǁAis (Damara/Nama: jumping waterhole), is a location of ancient rock carvings in the Kunene Region of northwestern Namibia. It is comprised of a spring in a valley surrounded by the slopes of a sandstone plateau that receives minimal rainfall and experiences a broad range of daily temperatures.

About the destination: Etosha National Park is the second largest wildlife reserve in Namibia, covering an area of 20,000 square kilometers in Northern Namibia. The park encompasses the Etosha salt pan, which draws a variety of animals, especially during the dry winter months, as it provides a water source in an otherwise arid region. The wildlife that can be observed here includes Rhinos, Lions, Zebras, Giraffes, Gemsboks, Springboks, Wildebeests, Elephants, and Jackals. Each of the three rest camps has watering holes just outside the boundary fence. These are illuminated with floodlights at night, allowing visitors to watch as the animals come to drink, socialize, and occasionally engage in conflicts, well into the night. These spots are perfect for unwinding with a sundowner after a day of wildlife spotting. Visitors are not permitted to leave the rest camps after sunset, so these water holes offer a chance to continue observing the animals after dark.
